Default Lifter noise?

When my car is cold I hear a bit of lifter noise, when it gets warm. I do not hear it anymore. I thought cold oil=thicker=pumps up better. Hot=thin=doesnt pump up as well. What gives? Is it just the normal LS1 cold-tick and noone knows?

It's probably not lifter noise, it's probably piston slap, and I have it too..

.. especially when I start my car in the morning in Chicago when it's -12 outside with the windchill.

I always thought piston slap was "deeper" sounding. You may well be right though.
