aluminum or iron block?
aluminum or iron block? I want to order a 408 short block from texas-speed. do i want an iron block or aluminum? any one have any info on them or suggestions? what are some of the pros and cons on both..
That depends what your gonna use it for. Is it gonna be N/A or FI? Give us some more info. The main difference is the weight. Iron is about 90lbs heavier I believe but will be needed fpr some setups. Did you think of any other options? A 402, 408, 427, 454 etc.
if you can afford it the aluminum block is great.i thought and thought about it and finally decided i would go with the iron for the rigidity of it even though an aluminum block could handle more power than i'll ever make.i guess it is up to who you ask how much can an aluminum block handle before reliability becomes an issue.
