Default detonation

I need help. I have some really bad pinging @ full throttle when I hit about 5000 rpm`s.I have heard dozens of remedies.Who has successfully fixed this problem? Has anybody tried the pcv mod to keep oil out of the throttle body? I don`t understand how small amounts of oil could cause detonation. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I have `02 Z with A4,2:73,K&N FIPK,& SLP Y-pipe.

160 degree thermostat will help alot. Also some watter wetter by redline.I would also look into getting a manual fan switch from slp its an easy plug and play part.

I too, am having this problem! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Ruled out the bad gas theory... unless every gas station has bad gas around here! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Also have installed 160* thermo and used the water weter with about a 30%coolant 70%water mix. Helped a little (I think), but still getting some pinging.

Still waiting on the fan swith!... That seems to be on perpetual back order <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

If all else fails, I will definatly be doing the pcv mod or inline filters... or whatever it takes <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

you can also try a bigger radiator

slp sells one for $2xx, and Jegs sells a Be Cool on for $500 that guarantees a 20 degree coolant temp drop or your $$$ back.
