v10 ls1! if you havent got the new gmhtp yet theres an article in it about an aborted 455 inch v10 ls1 project to replace the 454/502 big block. it would have been an iron block for the trucks and an aluminum version in the 2004 vette they said. the article basically goes through and presents the feasibility of the v10 and why it was cancelled or why they THINK it was at least. sounded like one hell of a prospect to me. they plugged all the specs into performance trends engine analyzer pro and compared it to a 454. in truck form they had it making nearly 400hp and just over 450lb-ft of torque. redone for the vette with basically a 5 cylinder ls6 head and a small factory style cam. 208/210 on a 110lsa and 10.5 cr. it came out to be about 475hp and almost 600lb-ft of torque <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> . they also biased the test towards the 454 as well, they found the best head flow specs for a stock 454 head and then added about 5 percent and they choked off the 455 a bit and it still made 50lb-ft and 64hp more with a superior curve and 500 more useable rpm. according to the article this v-10 would have produced a 3 ton truck that ran mid 15's and the vette would be in the 11.80's@123mph with a 3400lb curb weight. however the article says that even though it was killed once it might surface again when keeping the 454 legal and workable isnt feasible anymore. so start writing your letters now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
