Default new timing chain issue

hey guys i just got a brand new timing chain and installed it and it doesnt seem any tighter then my old one. is this how its supposed to be? its not very loose, just seems like it should be tighter. if i push on the side of the chain towards itself, there isnt much give. if i push outwards on the side of the chain, there is some slack. just need some clarification here, thx guys!

I replaced my stock chain with a new LS2 after 30,000 miles. They had exactly the same amount of slack. I think that is just the way they're designed.
