Forged 346..... how much $?
Let me jump in here. I just had a forged 346 motor built by Thunder Racing. Dude it ROCKS! 11.34et @ 122mph 1st time out!

That's impressive, Coach. If you don;t mind could you share some of the details of your engine setup - I'm mainly interested in cam, compression, cylinder head-type info. I'm also assuming stock crank, is this correct? I'm a big TR fan and going this route hadn't really occurred to me, but sounds very promising. Thanks

He can fill in the other deatils.
- JE forged pistons
- Oliver rods
- stock crank
- GTP stage 2 5.3l heads (2.02/1.57)
- 12.1:1 compression ratio
- Thunder 230/227 .569/.569 111 lsa
Thanks, Jason for replying. Call ya at the shop later.
Just to add to what jason said, we are going to run 10's in the summer heat with this motor. I just need to break her in(only 150 miles so far on the motor),more tuning and l need to practise driving the Hot Rod(very different from the way it was before the new motor).
I will be at the track Friday night TNT and Bracket Race her on Sunday. I will post the results in the Drag Racing section.
I hope this helps.

Billet rods--1000.00
Custom Pistons--800.00
Stock shortblock--500.00-600.00
Gaskets--240.00ish
Assembly+ all the bearings,rings,+coating--1000.00
Am I missing anything on this built shortblock?
This is if you do it yourself and these prices are approx, Heads are another animal...

Ok, so assuming I did the work myself, and reused my shortblock, what costs would I have beyond:
Billet rods - 1000.00
Custom Pistons - 800.00
Rings - 250.00ish
Head gaskets and head bolts - 500.00
Chromeoly pushrods - 115.00
Rod Bolts - ?
What else am I missing? I'm trying to get a real good idea here....
