Do i need anything else for a TR224 cam install???
ok im either getting the TR224 114 or the Xtreme224 114. Both are indentical, just the TR has a .561 and the Xtreme has a .563
anyway, i was wondering do i need anything else?? Do i really need a timing chain or oil pump. I have 37k miles in my 98 if that matters.
Question is, can i get by with just with moly rods and 918 springs for now?
do i need a cam gasket and etc also??

98 might need the newer style water pump gasket and that should be it.
btw, i dont think those cams are identical.
there are alot of unseen figures out there. ramp rates ect.
there both good cams tho.take your pick or get with geoff at tunder for his advice on the matter.
also you will need some good break in lube for the cam. read up on the swap way before you actually do it. you will be fine. if you get into trouble, ask.

A guy in my family has is own body shop and he does all of my work. He installed the SLP's, stall, and etc etc on mine so he knows his stuff. I just wanted to make sure i didnt need a new oil pump or timing chain for right now.
i get very good install deals so its no biggie for me to do them later on <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

I think you need some blinker fluid to wipe on your cam gasket <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
seriously, what you "need" is a crank bolt and 99+ water pump gaskets (2 of them). Everything else is reusable. As I told you before...an oilpump is not a bad idea either. and if the pump is off...a chain replacement is cake.
