Default spinning assembly questions

Up until now I have been running a stock engine with bolt ons and n2o. I went to the track and detonated in # 6 cyl. First question is that the lean cyl? It burnt the tip off the plug and started what I think is wrist pin knock. Next question is there anyone selling a complete spinning assemble that can be custom ordered with n2o pistons billet rods and a good forged crank all balanced with rings and ready to install. Third question how much hp is the stock crank good for? If you have any answers for me it would be greatly appreciated. also if anyone knows where I can get the torque specs and sequence for the 2000 ls1.

Rich,
If you burned the spark plus electrode/s off, thats from heat, meaning you should look at how lean it is. What fuel system do you have?
Also depending on your combination/jetting etc, you will probably need colder heat range plugs.
Stock crank apparently is good for 7,000+. Anyone else? On a set-up like what you said (not a lot of info to go by though) you won't want an aftermarket crank unless you intend to add a stroker.
Lunati makes the crank, rods, pistons, etc, although ours are a mixture. We have a different brand pistons in our 346ci.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

How much nitrous were you running, and were you running on pump gas? I HIGHLY recommend running 104 unleaded if you're going to use nitrous; it won't take much detonation on the bottle before you destroy something internal.
I would definitely use the stock crank on the rebuild. There are quite a few guys putting a lot of power down with the stock unit, and one board member (Joe Kizzire) has spun up to 8,000 RPM with the stock crank in his 370 cid solid-roller setup! I have a friend that is getting ready to assemble his stock cid bottom-end, and he's using the stock crank, stock rods, and forged JE pistons & wrist pins. He's expecting 430-440 RWHP N/A with the heads/cam setup, and then he'll top it off with a TNT 150 shot. He's gunning for 600 RWHP on the bottle. As mentioned, you'd better have a fuel system that's up to the task of delivering that much fuel! A good intank pump is a start, and I would start searching old posts in the nitrous forum to see what others have done for fuel systems. I know that Thunder Racing recently built a forged bottom-end 346 cid for "Coach"; I'd recommend that you contact them about a new setup.

Thanks for the reply guys. I will give some more info. fuel system is stock injectors, walbro 340 in tank pump. stock mafs with ported ends. N2o system is nx 2 stage wet 75 on 1 and 100 on 2. Gas is 100 octane with a can of nos octane boost the off road claims to boost 7 points. # 6 piston don't look hurt I can see some flakes on it probally from the burnt plug (ngk tr6)the ring spins fine there is a little scuff on the on the edge of the piston from the face of the piston to the first ring the bore is fine the back of the piston on the inside of the motor is brown all the others are silver like new To me it looks like it burnt the oil to the piston and it won't come off.at first I thought it was a bent push rod but I didn't get that lucky canceled spark to #6 aand it went a way. That made me think it was a cracked piston or a bad wrist pin both appear to be ok I know it is in #6 but what it actually is i am unsure. I am going to get the injectors checked out. because I think if the fuel system went lean it would have hurt more than #6 but if #6 injector was slacking off it would have went lean in just #6 his is a brand new engine with 1200 miles just installed by the dealer. hard to get it covered by warranty with a 9" and a bunch of other bolt ons and it would have been a pain in the *** to put it back to stock. so here I am rebuilding a brand new engine. That's Racing. Oh ya it went 11.34 @ 117 mph when it broke.Any more help would be great.

Try:

www.ls1speed.com
www.ls1motorsports.com
www.agostino-racing.com

For quotes for forged piston/rod combos.

Also we have a 2000 SS A4 setup, complete from TB to oil pan, with converter, trans, pcm and harness, for $3600.

Also Scoggin Dickey our GM sponsor is now carrying Lunati and JE pistons.

My first built motor was a stock CI motor with JE pistons. stock bore (just honed the cylinders), and Dyer rods.
