When I start my car up cold, it's around 45psi, and driving around under 3000RPM it can go up to about 60ish psi. When the car is warmed up, the idle is 40psi on the nose. Cruising is around 50-65psi. When I get on it really hard, likek up to 5500+ RPM it can go as high as 70psi. Is that too much? Should I be worried? I mean at least it is showing an increase in psi when I rev it higher as it should. I have the stock oil pump in and do regular oil changes with Castrol Syntec 5W30.
I'm considering doing a cam change soon and want to know if I need to think about investing in a high flow oil pump, like one of the ones from ARE, or not, since my pump seems to work good. Just want to know if that's too much pressure. Thanks.

I have around 60 at cold idle and higher at higher rpm's
warmed up I have 45ish at idle and 60ish at 2,000 rpm's. I am running AMSOIL 5-30, soon to be 10/30.

Come down to Houston and see if it gets the same pressure when idling in 95* weather with our wonderful traffic system <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Thats great oil pressure, nothing to worry about. I wouldn't swap out the pump unless you have a 2000 or older vehicle or are showing symptoms of oil pump failure.

I went with another ported aftermarket one. They are all based on GM pumps. I had a pump like yours and upgraded. Or uhhh DOWNgraded. The new aftermarket pump SUCKED. Had less pressure and eventually failed taking out a rod & bearing.
It more has to do with luck of getting a good GM pump than stock vs. ported.

When sitting in traffic, is it normal for the pressure to drop around 30-35 and jump to 40, it does this repeatedly...anyone?
