Okay you guys know flow numbers.here is my question.i have a 6.0 goin into my trans am.it has317 heads that came with it.i have a set of 806 ls1 heads.that are ported.valve is 2.02.the sheet says total flow cfm at. 600 lift is 289.i hate to just not ise these heads.will they be a good choice on the 6.0 with a .600 cam with low duration

The compression of the 806 head is a bonus and since they are ported they should work better than the as cast 317s. Don't mistake big valves and flow numbers for real potential though. Stock valves and a good porter will do better than the vast majority of "gotta have bigger valves" mentality work.

The 317 heads on the 6.0l were big chambers for low compression on 87 octane trucks. Car heads were setup for higher compression and usually a recommended 91 octane to go with that compression.

The 6.0l with the same heads and cam will make more power than a LS1 because the bigger bore deshrouds the valves letting the head flow a little more and the displacement helps too but displacement alone is NOT the huge factor most believe it is.
