Default Help replacing broken valve spring?

So, I am replacing valve springs and I am having a hard time pulling the broken one. There is no way I can use the spring compressor and the retainer is stuck pretty good
against the keepers. To make things worse this is the number 8 cylinder intake valve.

Thanks
Mark

I had a hard time with this recently as well. You can find a socket that will fit on the retainer and lightly tap on it. Have a magnet ready to get the keepers which should be trapped in the socket. cover any holes in the head and use a towel or something to catch the keepers in case they were to fall. You do know to use air to hold the valve up don't you? Feel free to ask me any questions as I just changed my first spring with no problems.
