Installing crank and main bearings
do. I plan on having the block and crank balanced and blueprinted by a shop, but I would
like to assemble everything else.

Helms manual would be a good start. Lots of information there.

That is an excellent idea! Would a GM service manual be good also? If so, what would be
a good year to get? I am planning on a 2001 LQ4( aka 6.0L ) block with a 4.0" or 4.125" in crank.

The Helms IS the GM service manual. They can be ordered direct from Helms or sometimes you can get a cheaper price from a dealer. I think I got mine from Phoenix but one of the sponsors here may stock them.
I don't know if the 6.0 block torque specs are the same or not?
bearings and crank from one block to another? TIA
