Suggestions on leaning out my car??
Hey guys, don't post here much, wondering if you guys could help.
I have a Hammer Cam installed in my car as well as MAC headers(ORY), the car is untuned and I am running RICH.
At the dyno my car was kicking out some serious black smoke at WOT out of the cutout&tips. After the runs my tips were smoking like a pair of gun barrels.
I was wondering how much you guys think a ported/polished/epoxied TB would lean me out. I already have my MAF ported.
I don't have the $$ right now to do a proper shop tune and MAFT/ATAP comes out to be about the same.
Any suggestions?
Frank

Re: Suggestions on leaning out my car??
You could use a resistor in the intake air tempature sensor. By making the car think that warmer air is entering the intake it would dump less fuel. The size of the resistor would depend on how much you needed to lean the vehicle out.
With autotap or some other measuring device you shouldn't have a problem.
Start with a 1K ohm and work your way up.
Let me know if you need more help.

Ported TB really doesn't change your A/F, although it is good for some extra HP.
I'd buy a MAFT, maybe used to save money, and track tune it if you don't have ATAP (is there no one near you with it that could help you in exchange for a six pack of brews <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> ).
The warmer air trick can also effect timing. The hotter you go, you can loose 3 degrees of timing.

I'll probably end up getting the MAFT, how do you tune at the track? Up the air and run till you don't see any more black smoke? I have an ported Shaner S2 TB on the way as well.
