Default head gaskets

i need some help- where the hell do i get them? dealer doesnt have any in...they stopped selling gaskets individually and now sell the head swap kit in replacement- but i cant even get one of those.

ive read about a couple other gaskets on here, but where do i get them? will LS6 gaskets work, do they even still sell those too?

my stock heads are milled 0.050 and i dont really want to go thinner than stock for fear of making a mess in the engine <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

got the shorter rods and a .563 lift cam if i matters.

What do you mean they “stopped” selling head gaskets? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

We just bought a pair for a car about two weeks ago at Jennings. We’ve also bought them at Grossenger.

I think I’m confused by your statement. Maybe I’m not understanding what your asking <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

You may have tried it already.....

When the dealer all but laughed in my face when I said I needed head gaskets soon; I went to Napa. They were able to get them over the weekend for me at nearly half the price.

Good Luck <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

im sure if the dealership doesnt have single gaskets in their local inventory they must revert to GM's policy...which i belive is selling the gasket SET (i.e. all the gaskets for the LS1). TPIS makes some thinner gaskets. Napa carries gaskets and i believe FelPro makes a set.

I just bought the head swap kit from ARE and they took out the stock head gaskets and I sprung for the cometic ones. So if you were to call them I bet they would have set to sell you.

I just ordered the Cometic gaskets, got mine custom .040 made with thicker O ring for nitrous application. I decided on studs instead of GM headbolts. Paid 175 for the gaskets and 210 for the studs.

The NAPA ones are the same as the OEM LS1 ones (Victor Reinz). NAPA part numbers are
NGA 5975- Right (Passenger Side)
NGA 5976- Left (Driver Side)

I order mine through their website www.napaonline.com and had them in 5 days

What is the number for Cometic. I always see the name, just no way to get in contact with them. Anyone know if NAPA sells gaskets for 6.0L heads??

Thanks
Scott
