Lifter? Warm engine tick
My car get a tick that sounds like an exhaust leak when it warms up. The exhaust is not leaking and I have checked the valve train up top.
Any ideas on what to look for? I tried 20W50 M1 oil thinking it was a lifter but that made no difference.

Re: Lifter? Warm engine tick
Sam...my '98 SS has developed a tick in the last 9 months as well. It doesn't matter if it's cold or hot, she still ticks. My car runs great with no knock retard, excellent timing, and L-trims @ idle are 0. I also have no diagnostic trouble codes (dtc's) registering either. My own theory would be a ticking fuel injector. It ticks dead on my # 2 cylinder. I'm not going to worry about due to it's excellent performance and no codes being thrown. A-tap it and see if anything looks suspicious. BTW, my '98 has 9,400 miles on it.
