Work/Rate of work explination
with the recent hp verses torque debates ive seemed to come up with an explination of why the 2 work together as oppose to just one being better than the other. torque...as we know it is physical work done...twisting the chassis, moving the wheels, making the suspension work. horsepower...in my interpretation.. is the rate at which the torque is produced and put to the ground.
Example: you have a 500 hp / 250ft/lbs car and a car with 500hp and 500ft/lbs...
the one i would think woul dbe faster would be the one with more torque simply because the rate of work stayed the same while the amount of work done changed
yes, the more you raise the rate at which work is being done, the faster you go... BUT if you also raise the amount of work done at the same time.... the quicker you go.
what do you think?
