Default "O-Ringing" a block?

What does it mean to O-Ring a block? I have heard that it strengthens the block, but does it do anything more? Also, if a block is O-Ringed, does anything have to be done to the heads? TIA

I believe some work might need done in the chambers of the heads to work with o-rings. Basically the setup slides down into the bore and protrudes through the deck of the block into the combustion chamber of the cylinder head. Basically o-ringing prevents losing gasket seal at the combusion chamber if you lift the heads. Most people that use it use it in supercharging and nitrous applications and many couple it with copper gaskets. This is the setup I'm currently running on my car. I'm not sure that I've explained it well enough or without fault but maybe someone else can come back and clean up for me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

A grove is cut in face of the head, and a fine stainless or copper wire is pressed into the grove. It helps keep the headgasket in place. It does not effect displacement.

Hey Derek, I think I see what you are talking about. If the O-Ring slides in the sleeve of the bore, how much displacement to it take up? Also, what is the thickness of the copper head gasket? Lastly, so the O-Ring affect the heads chamber volume? TIA.
