Default MTI question

Ok, I'm new here, and great site lotsa info

I see lots of you guys have MTI heads and cam packages and they seem like the best guys in the industry. I was considering a Stage II h/c package, and I would like to get it from them...only problem: I live in chicago.

Has anyone that doesnt live in texas gotten any work done from them? How did you do it? Can I just order parts and have a local shop to all the work or does the install HAVE to be done by them? It would be a royal pain in the *** (and mighty expensive) to get my car down to TX. Would it even be worth the trouble? A local shop (speed inc.) that I trust can get me GTP, ARE, and RGR heads, all of which seem ok with me, but if MTI's are really worth the trouble I'll just have to do it

Thanks guys!
-Mike

EDIT: forgot sig

MTI is OK but there are plenty of other shops that do as well or better for less cash.

I am still waiting to get my stage 2 LS6 heads and X1 cam from MTI. Should be another 3 weeks or so. They have been excelent help ever since I ordered them. I call about once a week just to hear the same thing...."We're still looking at the last week of july or first week of august". They probably get sick of hearing me call but they always answer any new questions I might have.

I live in the seattle area. Since I went with the LS6 heads I paid the core charge directly to MTI. Other wise I would have had "Valve God" drop ship a set of standard LS1 heads to them. When the heads are about a week Patric at MTI will call me and tell me to ship my computer to them for tuning. They will then send the whole package back to me. I was a little concerened at first about them not having the car to tune on a dyno. Patric assured me that they have the tuning down to a science and will damn near hit the nail on the head with tuning even with out the car. Even if it is a bit off I have LS1 edit here to dial it in a bit better.

I did a TON of research on all of the companies out there,ARE,MMS,GTP,MTI,Flowtechnics(SHUDDER), etc etc. The biggest reason I chose to go with MTI is that I heard people tell almost NO "headache" story's with MTI products AND thier customer service is second to none. In the real world of cars, SPEED COSTS MONEY! I may have paid more with MTI but I will rest easy knowing that I am getting a quality product that is going to pack one hell of a punch.

Typical Terry Burger reply above, so just disregard it and welcome to the site!

NataSS, you bring up an excellent point. How many threads lately have you seen about guys complaining of lack of power, or blowing their motors, or running ****-poor at the track with MTI setups? None.

I looked long and hard for a company that had the customer service, the warranty, the power and dependability that I needed. I chose MTI for all the above. It was just icing on the cake that they were local.

...Not a prob. They can ship parts to just about anywhere. I get tech questions about MTI from as far away as Kuwait. The guys over there are nothing but happy with the stuff they have gotten from MTI. If MTI can keep those guys, half way around the world happy, they should be able to handle you in Chi town.

I could not be ANY more happy with my MTI set up than I am right now. Ok, thats not true; it could be 35 degrees and dry so I could be racing it, instead of a sweltering 95 degrees and raining.

Good luck with what ever you decide to do.
