No. The Darton MID sleeve is a wet sleeve design. It's what I'm running.

Don't do that either. Dry sleeved LS-1's aren't great either. If you want to go dry, use a LS2 case. The dry LS2 should handle what you want to do.

The area between the cylinders of the LS1 block is hollow, or otherwise filled with coolant. This leaves very little room to work with when trying to increase the size of the sleeve. That's why LS1 blocks are primarily used for the MID set-up. On the LS2 case, the area between the cylinders is solid aluminum, so it gives more stregnth when increasing the sleeve size. If you could find someone to properly dry sleeve a LS1 (doubtful), the max reccomended bore is only 4.060". Max bore on the dry LS2 is 4.185". Why sell yourself short? I'll make this super easy for you. Sleeving is a tedious process, and I would only trust 2 people to do it. That's Steve at RED, and Katech. Neither of these 2 will dry sleeve a LS1 case since the introduction of the LS2 case. That should tell you enough right there. If you don't use one of these 2 for your sleeving, your taking a MAJOR gamble. I always reccomend going to Steve because you get "extras", such as a longer sleeve, for running long strokes, plus, the Darton sleeves are a better material and can hold a larger over bore. My reccomendation to you, is to call Steve and order a dry sleeved LS2 case using the Darton LS7 sleeves. This is the most cost effective/sturdiest case for the money. Here's a list of blocks you can sleeve:
1. LS1 block using MID sleeves (strongest by far)
2. LS2 block using LS2 Darton sleeves (4.160" max bore)
3. LS2 block using LS7 Darton sleeves (larger bore potential 4.185" max)
4. LS7 block using LS7 sleeves (unrealistic uless you already have a LS7 block)

hi,

i was only talking about the thin wall between the breathing bays cracking, i know that there is no aluminum left between the liners above the seat, and about your comment about me not ever seing a MID block you are making useless assumptions, we make the liners and machine the block here ourselves, not buy it straight from DARTON. finally i can make any usefull comment that i want as long as i dont offend anyone maybe you should keep this in mind since i was correct about the LS6 block not being an ideal choice for MID sleeving, and maybe you are the one who has a few hearsay ideas about everything but not sure about anything. what do you say? APOLOGY ACCEPTED.

and by the way how much are you willing to bet?? i need some cash these days!

take care
