Default Comp Cams 850-16 lifter install question

Hey I got a question about installing these. I was talking to a buddie and he said I needed to use some .030-.040 shims under the rocker rail because the preload would be more than what is required by comp cams. Does this make sense or should I install them according to the stock specs?

If they like less preload you're better off going to a shorter pushrod than trying to shim the rockers.

I don't even think you can safely shim stock rockers.

FWIW, with my cam and slightly milled heads i had to go to a 7.3 pushrod to get my preload on stock rockers back to where i wanted it.

Did he give you a number on preload?
