Worth port matching LS6 intake?
I was tempted to do this, when i had motor apart to port my heads. The LS6 intake ports do neck down some at port exits, not sure if flow into heads is hindered or not, but i am interested if any one else has played with this and if it netted any gains? I will flow test heads with intake bolted on next time, just to see if this port match has potential to help.
I did not measure the gains (if any), but I ported mine . I had to remove about 1mm from each side of the ls6 port to match the head port. I wouldn't take one off to port it...but I wouldn't put a new one on without porting (actually port matching) it because it's so easy with a dremel tool. ~ 30 minutes.
You are wasting your time and effort. Here is one for ya- take your ported head and bolt it up to an ls6 intake and flow the two of them together. You will be sick in how much cfm you lose with that intake(port matched or not). Not worth it buy another intake.
well in the case here i believe that it is the combination of the 2 the porting of the heads in conjunction of the porting of the intake nets you a larger gain than just having a ported intake on the ported heads. remember not all porting is the same and mixing and matching pieces might not always work out you might even go backwards
