Default Check pullout condition

I bought a 99 LS1/T56 pullout and received it this week. The car was a Firebird, had 27,000 miles on it and came from Michigan. Before I put this setup into my Kit I would like to be sure it’s ok. Are there any specific items to check on an LS1? Should I pull the pan or just check the oil. Should I pull out the pushrods and check them for flatness? What would you guy’s do?

check the oil and drain plug. metal powder is ok but shavings are not.
check the pushrods ( heck , just replace them while you're there with hardened ones) for straightness , sice they are known to get bent!

take the tranny to a good tranny shop that did work on these trannies before and have them inspect it for bent shift forks, worn synchros, and broken- chipped gears.

can anyone add to this? hope this helps.

Yea, thats a good idea. I've been told that a leakdown test would be a good idea. Over all the engine looks real good although the salvage yard did some damage. One of the coils is busted, and there are some wires torn in half close to the computer. I think I'm going to send the harness out to be altered so the coil is the only real issue I have with the salvage yard.
Thanks,
Dale

DO NOT replace them with hardened rods unless you plan to do the springs with some aftermarket pieces also....hardened pushrods + stock springs is a disaster just waiting to happen...

JMO, of course <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
