Default cam on stock heads

I think the topic has been asked several times.but here goes on a daily driven stock head car with LT headers,air lid.cat back exhuast system.It is a 2001 M-6. Who has found the most Horse power and yet maintained driveiblity.Alot of us who dont go to the racetrack or have extra cars to drive would love to know best cam for the buck. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

The MTI C2 is a good daily driver. Track times in sig (stock heads). There is a dyno graph on my website also.

The gm hotcam is good for a daily driver, the
kit comes with LS6 springs and retainers and cam.
It has a good lope to it and decent power for
about $450 delivered from paceparts with all
the gaskets that you need and a crank bolt.
I chose this cam because I needed reliablity
in the car, so far 16K miles still works great.

There are other cams that are nice too, some
of my favorite include the T1 or B1 cams.

mysetup LT's kit ( headers,cats,y-pipe) lid;catback; hotcam
351/364 on a 2001 M6

Its not the fastest or the most horsepower around
but I have lots of fun with it. Daily Driver
and vacation car.. this summer on 2K mile trip
best MPG 29.3 late night AC on 75mph cruize control. Average around 26 hwy at 75-80 AC on.

The C2 from MTI or the thunder 224/224 cam ..... the list goes on and on.

I went with the HotCam for my Daily Driven vehicle (almost 9K mi/yr) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

i have been told to go with no less than 226 by some friends but I dont know for sure.It is a m-6

I run 10.6's with a little 224/224 cam (C2) and ran 10.8's with the C1 (hammer).
226? LOL, why?

For a daily driver do NOT go bigger than a 224/224. That would be the BIGGEST I would recommend. Yes, you could make more power, blah, blah, with a bigger cam. But you will also have to live with the BIG cam problems. (programming, surge, idle sucks, gas mileage sucks, springs, extra RPM that hurt the longevity of the motor, extra expense for rear gears, etc. etc..)

Look at some of the cams already mentioned.... those are more what your looking for.

Well I thought they were wanting more out of it then I did when they told me to go that big.I was set on the TR 220 112 and enjoying it.I have read way to many horror storys on heads and big cams etc.I am not going to do any thing till I am closer to end of warantee.I will put the LT Headers on as soon as I find a winter beater/ work car so I can take all the time I need to do it.plus cam wise I dont have to worry about emissions.thanks for all the info.Kid car and Dog
