Default I have a couple of dyno questions

I'm planning to get my car dyno'ed at a new local dyno. They have a Mustang dyno. I've had my car dyno'ed several times on a DynoJet so I have some decent numbers to compare.

In talking with the owner, and an owner of another Mustang dyno, they both want to know my vehicle weight and "parasitic loss at 50mph".

Someone please help me understand why this is needed.... I can't see how that makes any difference at all.

Isn't rwhp and rwtq simply a matter of how fast my rear tire accelerates the dyno drum?? In my mind it shouldn't matter whether that rear tire is attached to a 6000# dually, my 3500# Camaro, a 2500# ricer, etc.

Also, since a hp and a ft-lb of torque is a "standard" unit of measure, shouldn't any dyno produce numbers reasonably close to one another for any given car... I mean within a few percentage points at most? This is assuming that they all use the same atmospheric corrections for air quality.

That's an interesting answer. Care to expand or explain?

I see no relevance to their requests either...sounds rather odd, if you ask me...
As far as the above comment, I think he's referring to the fact that Mustang dyno's seem to consistently show higher #'s vs. other types of dyno's.
I remember hearing something about how they use a different type of calculation to get the RW #'s.
Some people say it's to stroke people into thinking they're faster than they are...hence being named after the Ford Mustang

I have heard that a mustang dyno will show lower numbers then a dynojet. I am not sure what the weight has to do with it, but they needed it for my car last week on a mustang dyno. I hope they are lower since I only put down 275hp on a stock car.

Mustang dynos do usually show lower results, though I've never heard a good explanation for why... anyone?
