Default confused

I thought I had a hell of a set up waiting to go in. Now after hanging around here I'm not sure.

Some of you say that LS6 heads are no better than LS1 heads. You guys also talk about reverse split cams.

What I have sitting here is: LS6 heads with 2.050 / 1.60 valves they were ported and assembled by Pete at "CNC". The cam he recommended (for power) is: 224/228, .581/.588 112 LSA

The commpresion will be somewhere around : 11.2 - 11.4

the same exact heads but 10.7 compression made 430 rwhp on a C5 runing rich ( I don't remember the torque)
So I figured being I will have Grott's (if they ever arrive) and I don't have as much drivetrain loss and the higher compression and tuning ON a dyno, 450 rwhp is realistic. But I don't see anyone with a cam similar to mine.

could someone let me know if I should make a change before puting all this on my car?

also did I waste money on the LS6 heads?

I don't mean to **** & moan but..........

By the way after reading all this stuff on bigger cubed motors, I'm interested. Which is the better way to go: short block from ARE or CARTEK or 6.0 motor and go from there?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

THANX

Using your LS6 heads are fine, and will be good for a couple more ponies over most LS1 heads. They folks here saying you have wasted your money on LS6 heads or the hardcore bang-for-the-buck folks.

For the stock cubes, LS6 heads (ported) will provide comparable numbers to LS1 heads (ported). Engines with greater than 346 ci or revving to the moon will see a much greater benefit with the LS6 head, and will dyno and trap consistently better than LS1 heads.

Your cam, it really depends on the porter, so I would listen to his advice. If you decide to up the cubes though, you will most defiantly want to change your cam.

As for increasing your cubes.
Stroker - Cheap (relatively), lots of torque
Bore - Expensive, better HP gains
Bore / Stroke - I hate you

Talk to MTI, they seem to be the leading folks in upper the cubes on our motors. They are a sponser on the right.

Good Luck

Hey thanks a lot "NOGO"

that bore/stroke would be nice.
I'm not sure but doesn't MTI only sell there big cubes if they install it?

That is one hell of a setup.Dont listen to everyone about your head choice. They will make more power over ls1 heads but at a higher cost which is why most stay away because its not worth the extra dough. If you ever go with a stroker then those or the c5r heads are the way to go IMO.
