Default Header wrap: bad idea?

I have heard header wrap is a bad idea for a street car, but I wanted to get your opinion. Are there any LS1 guys using it? Why or why should we not use it?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info guys! Looks like its definately not a worthwhile mod for ceramic coated longtubes.

If you've got ceramic coated headers, it won't buy you too much; but that's not the reason that I'd stay away from it. That stuff is HARD on headers because it retains so much heat in the headers themselves. This leads to the header tubes getting hotter than the steel is designed to get, which in turn leads to them getting VERY brittle. Like push through the header tube with your finger brittle. Bad news.

Just my $.02 and experiences...

It also retains moisture and will lead to rust.
