Default rebuilding the LS1

I'm wanting to upgrade my bottom end to forged pistons, upgraded connecting rods, bolts, pushrods, head studs, gaskets & seals and all.

This should get me motor-ready for forced induction (with the await of my upgraded rear end & supporting suspension mods). I'll probably go with the D1SC.

will I need to get different heads and cam? I have ported LS6 heads & a Comp Grind cam 22x/22x .581 lift.

how much can I have someone build the bottom for me if I have the parts??

I would suggest buying a new shortblock. If you can afford to go FI, you can afford to do the motor the right way. You can sell off the LS1 you have now afterwards to recoup some of the money.

For a ***** to the wall setup for FI, contact W2W.
For the absolute BEST price and service, contact SDPC2000.com

If you go with a new shortblock, you can reuse your heads and adjust the cam accordingly. However, if you are going to go FI and be purchasing a new shortblock, I would look into an LQ9 based iron blocked 408 stroker. You could also get a pretty good deal on a 418c.i. L92.

To buy the FI parts and not a new shortblock will still be costly. With FI I'd go with the best parts. Lunati crank and rods, FI pistons, chrome topped piston rings, 42lb-60lb injectors depending on boost levels, ARP everything and other miscellaneous. Looking around 3k for all parts, and probably 1000-1500 for the install.

Here is an awesome deal on a boost ready 370 motor. Lunati everything, TEA AFRs, 105mm intake/tb, clevite, hellfire, etc. He's also selling an FI fuel system, BS3 and tranny.

what are the advantages going to an iron block than an aluminum block? I found a 408ci iron built longblock from TSP for $6600. TSP also has a 402ci aluminum built longblock for $7400. or a built 348 long block for $5500 from speed inc and save myself a grand or two. which would be the better deal? keep in mind, I'm wanting to save as much as possible just to reach 500rwhp. I'll be satisfied then.

buy a 6.0 cast iron block, and then buy all your own forged assembly and do it yourself

cost you about half of what those crate motors cost
