Exclamation Is this normal for a cam to look like this!?!?!? Please help.

So I got my cam in the mail and wanted to check it out. When I took it out of the box and looked at the side of the cam, it says it a g5x4 which is what I ordered but it also seemed to be scratched or kinda scuffed up. So I called LG to ask if that is normal or what not and the guy goes off how how no cam they send is smooth and they send 100’s 1,000’s a day and everything is fine. So is this really the case? The lobes and all look good it is just on the 1 side that the cam is pretty “scuffed up”. So for all you people that have got cams before does this seem normal?

Thanks Guys!

I would but I'm at work right now. The best way I can describe it is like I said kinda scuffed up. What did the side of your cam look like?

Not sure what you are refering to when you say side of the cam. If you are talking about the end of the cam where they are usually engraved, then yes, they can be all scratched up there.

They have special grind numbers on there that they don't want getting out, so they grind them off. At least that's what Thunder Racing told me.

Well that makes sense but you would think for the money you pay for these fricken things they would be perfect! $450 for a cam.

Yeah they grind off the specs. No big deal. It doesn't harm anything, so it's not an imperfection.

Um, it's a Comp custom grind that LG has them make. If you know the specs, you can have it ground. BUT here's what I've noticed: The LG cams seem to be very dead-on as far as the accuracy of the grind goes. I believe (just a theory) that LG only accepts a narrow margin of error. Much narrower than other cam companies if you've ever read the differences in grinds on cam cards or cam doctor results from some others. So yeah, it was worth the extra few bucks for me to get what I wanted instead of taking a chance.
