Help! Bent pushrod and hole in PCV!
The next day, on my way home, I hear a metal grinding type noise. I also noticed the auto shitfts VERY hard (CLUNK!). Well my friend who knows about cars, says I busted a pushrod for sure. And theres a hole the size of a quarter in my PCV tube thing.
Is this from hitting the rev limiter or what? How much is it to fix? Any other info about this would be GREATLY appreciated!
THANKS! (and nice board)

When does the "grinding" occur ? Does it vary with RPM or vehicle speed ?
Your friend who knows about cars thinks you bent a pushrod with an A4 ? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
Just so you know, bent pushrods are most commonly obtained by missing a shift (3-2 instead of 3-4) in an M6 car. Very, very few A4 cars will bend pushrods. The electronic rev limiter keeps most A4 guys protected - it's mechanical overrevs that cause bent pushrods for the most part. It's fairly straightforward to check them yourself, info can be found here :

Also, a bent pushrod would have no correlation to your PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system. If there's a big hole in a PCV hose you will have rough idle issues and loss of power due to the vacuum leak.
Post some more info and I bet the helpful folks here will have more insight.
Best of luck,
