How do I get valve stem seals off?

Just as the header says... Trying to replace one that got chewed in a broken spring incident... Special tool? Thanks...

I used pliers and didn't have any problems with it. I'm more curious how you get them back on? I got them on but they don't fit all the way to the washer and I'm not sure if they should.

I would relace them once they've been removed. There is also a special tool to hammer them on with, but you can also use a 12 or 13mm socket...

Yeah, I ordered new ones. I'm just curious as to how much of a gap there should be between the seal and the washer beneath it. There isn't much of one on the exhaust seals but the intake is quite a bit larger gap.
