Default which crank?

now im only limiting the selection to two cranks. the Eagle 4 inch crank, or the new compstar crank. which one would you all choose if you only had those two to choose from? and why? and before anyone asks....the budget doesnt allow for a lunati, and the stock one isnt a 4 inch stroke, or i would have just used that.

Compstar all the way. I've heard some bad things about eagle. If the compstar crank would have been available when I ordered my engine, I very well may have gone with a 383. But like you said, lunati is way too expensive, and I can't trust the Chinese steel of the eagle...

lunati.

but on a more serious note. I am assuming you are not racing this car, because if you were, you would spend the money the first time and do it right insted of picking through shattered ls1 parts and rebuilding again. Be happy and spend the extra!!

Compstar is Callies. Think of it like this: Callies is Chevy. The dragonslayer is the SS version, and the compstar is the Z28

Here are some answers to all the questions. Anything you see under the Callies name is 100% made in the USA. Compstar products are made overseas. We have never wanted to hide this fact. Compstar is like "Buick" is to General Motors. Now that being said we do specify and supply them with a true 4340 AMERICAN standard of steel to make all the Compstar products. We specify tolerances and do all the finishing work here at Callies so the cranks or rods hold the same tolerances we finish our parts here to. Now I am sure the question is so what is real differences. Callies Cranks whether your looking at the DragonSlayer or Magnum have the Permatough heat treat done (you can turn them 30 under without breaking the heattreat) to them and they are a little lighter in weight. There is also a wider range of strokes available with the Callies line up. (SEE THE WEBSITE) Also they will take anything you want to throw at them. If you look around you will find most of the top LSX Engine builders use Callies Cranks. Compstar Cranks are a perfect crank for the budget minded guy. The Max HP we are intending these to go into are 900-1000 HP. We will only have these available in the following strokes.
4.00 - 4.100 - 4.125 - 4.250 and Stock
As of today we only have the 4.00 and 4.100. We will have the 4.125 and 4.250 by the end of March.
I hope this helps everyone.

Thats good info to know. I think most people on this site are definitely not planning on more than 900~1000 HP!
