well.....new here....
Anyway, I am coming from the old days of 1st gen F-bodies, 500-600hp Big Blocks, TH-400s & Woodward Ave....
I now run a '00 WS6 with M6 & 4.10 gears. It's my daily driver & I road race it.
As you may have guessed from my back ground, I am not affraid of a big thumper for a daily driver. AND I am used to big power for a daily driver and all of the attendant issues that go along with it.
Sooo..... my plan is an eventual 450ish RWHP as a daily driver.
Current mods are all suspension & brakes (for the road racing) and a Granetelli MAF, MTI lid, and soon to be ordered LS1 Edit.
Future plans will include headers, exhaust, heads & maybe intake.
I would like to buy the cam ONCE! But, I want to buy it NOW (of course....).
The specs that I'm seeing everybody using (both here & other places) seem awfully mild to my old-school self. I know Y'all are making power with then & much of that is due to the awesome heads that we have.
In addition to real usable power, I also WANT a lopey idle....you know, it's part of the game! When I go to Woodward Dream Cruise.... I want some presence......TeeeHeee.
Soooooo.......
How big can I really go with these motors (stock short block) and not end up with a WAY overcammed slug? Am I way out of line looking at OVER 230 degres @ 112...????
Or what?
Remember.... I ain't no "smooth idle pansy..."
Thank You !!!!!

There are cars out there with 230 through 236 split pattern running some big lifts on a 112 LSA. It just depends on what you want to do. As many have found they can certainly overcam their NA motors where otherwise they work well on the sauce!
The 112LSA on a XE-R is going to be fairly choppy. I have a 114 LSA and it chops and shakes but is tame in some comparison. I think 450 is going to be a stretch, only a handful of cars here are close to 450 on a H/C only car with stock cubes. I've seen some really nice torque numbers too (upwards of 400 through 440).
To really find out what you need I'd certainly look at getting a hold of Barry or Nick over at Agostino Racing or someone from MTI. They'll be a lot more direct and stand behind their packages than anyone that will give you a response here. Just a small warning, some have had issues piece mailing a head package from one vendor and a cam from another.
Good luck and try to avoid those $1000 careless/reckless driving fines like they were handing out for burnouts this year. Rumor mill has already started turning that it's time to move the cruise to a more forgiving stretch of road (read less tickets). I guess a few higher ups got some pricey tickets for being kids again among lots of others!

Get the Thunder Racing 224/224 112 cam, that has a nice lopey idle, and great HP, people with headers, lid, and ported TB, have gotten like 390 RWHP, some even break 400.

Well, as tantilizing as the Thunder 230/224 @ 111 LSA looks (and would sound.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ...).....
There's no denying the dyno numbers on the 224/224 @ 112 LSA. Basically the same peaks (close enough) with LESS bolt-ons !
Hmmmmm.......
Wish I could HEAR one.....
