Is there a lot of noise from the valvetrain? Reason asking is a friend's formula...

Had a sudden loss of power, but everything that we would normally check out is fine. No SES light, no valvetrain noise, no missing, no y-pipe banging, nothing out of the ordinary. Any suggestions on where to look?

When a spring fails there is mucho noise from the valvetrain, and usually a misfire.

Have you guys done a compression check?

Is he smoking at all? (not him, the car)

How is his timing? Still ~26-28 at WOT. Maybe he got bumped to the bad gas table.

Is he running lean or rich? This could give some indication as to a vaccum leak, or faulted sensor, or bad fuel delivery.

Is there any backfiring or any other indication that timing is all goofed up (bad or going bad crank sensor)?

it's just a total loss of power. and actually, we went to go get the GOOD gas today. the non-reformulated stuff. anyways, no backfiring, no valvetrain noise(he has 918's so that's why he asked), some blue smoke when he lets off the gas between shifts. no ses lights, no misfires, 02's were fine before and nothing was added/subtracted from the car. any suggestions?
