Default Is this cam too much for stock heads?

Okay, it is a .560/.560 226/228 112 Comp custom grind. Would this seriously require tuning? I was thinking about a TR224, but this I found this one really cheap! Its for a 6 speed. Good n20 cam?

any advice appreciated!

If you are stock heads I would look at a decent size reverse split (230/224 TR) or a 230/230 cam XE-R on 112LSA.
Cheers,
Chris

Both of those cams will work, they will require tuning...it really doesn't matter what one you choose for nitrous because it won't matter really unless you are spraying over 200ish...

I always thought a TR224 didnt need tuning? (they all need tuning to achieve the max, but they dont all "need" tuning to just drop in and run) So I am wondering if this 226/228 will run decent enough without tuning. I am not considering other cams, I want to know about this one because an offer came up that I almost cant refuse.

So what do you think, can I just drop it in and go?

I believe to get it to idle right you can just drill the throttle body and that way you dont need tuning. Not from experience but i think i remember someone saying that they just drilled it with the TR224.

That cam will work on stock heads with no problem. You will not be able to get around tuning.. It is a must. I hope you have 4.10 gears.. You will need them. Nitrous will work well with that cam also.. Unless you are planning on hitting it with a crazy shot. Always build for NA first.. You can get a MAFT to adjust for nitrous runs.. Oh yeah, do not forget to get springs for that cam.. The stock springs in the heads will not cut it.. Good luck and keep us posted..

Vince, you bring up the point I wanted to get at. What would make that cam more "unfreindly" to the stock tune? Is it because of the duration? Most cams like the B1/T1 and TR 224s people have just dropped in and had some pretty good results. So is the limit for a stock tune say 224?

Oh and 1 more ques, leaving all else the same between 2 cams (.560 lift on 112lsa) and only changing from 224/224 to 226/228, what difference would that tend to make in power? powerband? Curve? Basically what is the difference and what is it going to affect?
