Default Tuning the cam

I have a split front timing cover and adj chain set. I have considered renting some dyno time and playing with the cam timing.
I will list the rest of the mods.
FM 13 cam +2
dished pistons
What I would like to do is see if I can adapt an old water pump so that I can cool the motor using a garden hose. Save have to pull the waterpump off to get to the cam.
Has anyone tried this. Am I out to lunch.

How are you gonna get the timing cover off without removing the wp ?

simple answer is no.

You have a square port to deal with if you leave the wp off and try and circulate through the block without a pump and use a garden hose.

Then its only 2 hoses in the first place to use the pump in the first place and doesnt take that long to put on and take off.
