Help...think I blew motor

Help...think I blew motor Well I blew a shift the other nite...from 4th to 3rd at redline on the bottle. Replaced a few pushrods and it's still running very rough. Managed to make it the 20 miles home. Car isn't smoking when it runs. I plan to do a compression test to see about the valves which I suspect are bad. Is it possible to tell if the pistons/rods are bad without tearing the whole bottom end apart? I'll be able to see if the piston face has any marks when I tear the heads off but other then that I'm not real certain about anything down there. Thanks for any help.

Re: Help...think I blew motor Yes sad to say but low 12's is the best I could get even on the 100 shot. My last run woulda been 11.9's if I didn't miss shift and coast accross the line. Oh well...whatever is broke will get fixed with bigger and better stuff..even if it isn't till spring. Hoping it's just valves though.
