ARE Stage II heads, got questions
Do these heads perform as well as the GTP's? I can pick up a BRAND NEW set, at a pretty good price. They have 2.05/ 1.57 valves, and comp 987 double springs. Fully polished.
GTP's truck heads have performed extremely well. Likewise from talking to Wade ARE has had good success with truck heads too. From what I've seen, the truck heads are worth 10 - 20 HP over the lS1 heads. The 2.05/1.57 LS1 ARE heads should be competitive performance wise with GTP's LS1 heads. If you want max performance (420 - 440 HP)by truck heads. If you can get a good deal on the ARE heads and 400 - 420 HP is your goal, go for them.
i have ARE 5.3 heads with stage 1 valves stge 2 porting. i love em. GTP is one of the best. if i bought another set of heads i would go with the GTP's,ARE's, or MTI's. there are a couple more good ones out there too, but as far as ARE goes i would go for it. once i get a couple of weak links fixed in the car i am looking for mid 11's NA & hopefully 10's on the juice, if i go that route.
I personally would not select ARE heads and picked something else. GTP/MTI/TEA/JPR etc are all excellent choices. I'd avoid ARE based on a fair number of cars in the last few months used ARE heads and didn't dyno well all that well..380ish...Even with ARE matched cams some were less than impressive. If you do go with ARE, get them to suggest a cam.
