Default Honing a 98 Block?

I have quite a few parts gathered together for a little build I have planned. I was actually collecting parts before I had the car. Now I have a slight problem that I'm unsure of.

I was reading one of my LS1/LS6 books the other night and noticed it said that 98 blocks can only be honed .004 over stock. The problem is that the pistons I have are for a 3.905 bore. 3.905 - 3.898 = .007, .007 doesn't equal .004.

Is there any truth to this or is this just incorrect data? I tried searching on here, but didn't find anything helpful.

Thanks.

I did .005 on my 98 block, no problem.

Why wouldn't you be able to go .007?

I have gone 3.905 and 3.910" on many '97-'98 blocks without any issues to speak of.

Have any of you guys that have gone over the .004 used any power adders (turbo, supercharger, nitrous)?

Word of mouth is that it is ok to go over .005-.007 (but gm recommends a max of .004) but recommend to keep it N.A.

I was wondering the same thing. I plan on using a rather healthy (250ish) shot of nitrous. I'd seen a few people on here that had honed over the .004 mark, but not many if at all with power adders.

The sleeving process of the 98 blocks is different than those of the 99+ blocks. The 99+ blocks have more material that can be removed.
