Re: bottom end upgrade...
depends on how much power you are planning on running but I'd say if you are just doing the cam you would be pretty safe with an upgraded timing chain and oil pump. That should keep you pretty safe untilyou do something more than heads and can then you would want rod bolts, pistons, rods, and crank.

bottom end upgrade...
Have an all stock 2001 LS1 engine....am going to upgrade to a GM hot cam soon. Are there any "resonable" upgrades to the bottom end that I should do? (aka: no forged pistans or forged crank right now.....).
I'm wondering what things go first......what do I need to be ready to replace?

Pistons - if you run a big shot of Nitrous or forced induction
Crank??? I have NEVER heard of anyone breaking the stock crank! - even pushing 600+ HP
Everyone jump in here if you have broken your stock crankshaft. I've never heard of it.

I would get SLP's double roller chain. I wouldnt trust that stock chain with 2 Grand in valvetrain upgrades would you? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> Protect your investment and get the new chain at least.

Re: bottom end upgrade...
so what it sounds like, is I should do the following with my cam....
1) double roller chain (which one is the best?)
2) new valve springs (which should I go with....LS6 or Comp 918s? they are about the same price)
3) Chrome moly pushrods
When I open the engine up in the future, look into Rod bolts (should not cost that much right?) and a set of forged pistons.
What do you think of the stock main and rod barings?
