how hard would this be to do, and what is the pro's of doing this. just asking cause i need a new block and i can get a 6.0 long block cheap

more CI is always better you will gain weight but the TQ you get is worth it to me. DOOO IT. while your at it throw in a cam too......??!!!!!

ive thought of doin this as well ive seen those shortblocks sell for under a grand with low miles.one will pop up every now and then in the f/s section

there was a dyno thread with a guy that did a stock 6L with cam only, it put down some good numbers. he did the same thing your all talkin about.

i'd put some ls6 heads on it to raise the compression. might as well get a 4in. stroke crank and make it 400+ ci.

my friend and a did it on his 99 ss. we used the 6.0 iron block, ls1 heads ported, longtubes, big cam, pusrods, arp rod bolts, dual valve springs, etc. It is sick, it will blow the tires off it in 3rd gear from 45 mph.

A friend of mine just blew his full bolton 02 ls1 5.7 it put down 350/360 to the wheels. Well he got a 02 6.0 long block from junk yard and put all his boltons, ls6intake and all on it and dynoed it and it did 355/375 to the wheels with the same tune! He ended up almost getting 390wtrq with a tune and picked up a few hp So my car has 413whp 378trq that needs a tune and if it goes and i dont have the money for a big stroker i will throw a stock 6.0 truck motor and throw all my ls1 mods in it and pick up a good bit
