Default ls1 info

hey guys im new to ls1 tech. i have a beautiful 00 ss with a wicked cold piston slap. I am a 15 yr cadillac tech and am fairly new to the ls engine. we do have the escalades but rarely have engine problems. I figured now was a good time to do a rebuild. boring or honing these engines seems to be a gray area. I would like to install new pistons cam and top end, but i feel i should clean up the cylinder walls. has anyone had expeirence rebuilding a piston slap engine (are the engine walls scored or distorted?) im not looking to sleave the block. also i can get a 04 ls6 long block for 3500, but would prefer doing the work myself. any input would be helpful thanks

For a cleanup/slight hone/rebuild, you can bore it .005 to .007 over with relative ease of finding pistons for that application. Check out the sponsors such as ThunderRacing or TexasSpeed to name a few that carry these kits.
