Newbie LS1 Cam question

My dad is going to get a 2000 Corvette Convt. and he wants to put in a little bit more cam. He doesnt want anything too radical because this will be his daily driver. I know a little about the Ls1 but I have never had one myself. I have been looking at this website alot lately and I have noticed that the Ls1 seems to be able to get away with alot of cam. Why can the LS1 get away with a bigger cam than first gen chevy motors? What would be a good cam for a stock vette with only a catback and kn filter? Any advice would be appreciated.

Agreed, it sounds like he really doesn't want much of a cam and this one will have great driveability with a good tune and will create power throughout the entire powerband.
