Shaft Mount Rockers Why is it that we need shaft mount rocker to go solid roller? Seems like quite a few people are turning 7200 rpm on the stock lifters. If you go to a Crane stud mounted lifter it has to be more stable than the factory lifter. Is 300 rpm that great of a difference? Don't take cost into consideration...I am merely asking about the physics of the valvetrain. We can all agree that the Cranes at $700 don't make sense when shaft mounts can be had for $830 or so.
Re: Shaft Mount Rockers Can't hurt to try them, but for a solid setup why not spend $300 more have buy the best? I prefer to run less rocker ratio and more lift ground in to the cam, because I believe it's easier on the valvetrain.
Re: Shaft Mount Rockers You can get the shaft mounts in stock ratios, and the cranes are 1.8. So what. it all depends on the cam. Some cams have a ram up rate thats too fast for the 1.8's to handle. So it all comes down to the cam. IMO get the ZO6 cam if your gona run the crane rockers.

Re: Shaft Mount Rockers Scratched the 1.8 idea...the MMS 229 is too aggressive. Too many stories about valvetrain stability problems with the 1.8s. Looks like I'll have to go ahead and get the T&D's...they will fit into my future solid roller plans better anyway.
