Default DUAl valve spring question...

I just ordered a complete cam package for my 98 SS, and i was wondering if there is any type of machine work involved for getting these dual valve springs to seat properly on the heads? thanks.

No, you just need a valvespring compressor. Have fun.

They should have new seats. You will need to remove the valve seals to get the seats on, so if you don't have new seals better order them.

no i got the complete package.....seats, retainers, locks...i just wanted to know if i'd have to get anything machined on the heads to have em work?

As long as they are made for the LS1 your new seats should slide down right over the guide. Quick tip, measure your spring height prior to putting on the seals so you don't have to pull them off if you need to shim.

see....thats what i'm scared of...i just wanna be able to put em on and done with. How would i know if they need to be shimmed?

Most "LS1" springs are a direct fit and just slip into place. Few people worry about installed height and open pressure, but it could be a legitimate concern.

You would need to know if they need to be shimmed by measuring the "installed height" of the springs on YOUR heads with an install mic. A local shop should be able to help you with this if the heads are off your car, but fwiw, most people probably just drop them in- especially if you're not running a super agressive camshaft.
