I think you'll see anywhere from .25 to .5 point increase in CR with the 5.3s over the LS6s.
I can't remember what my old CR was though...been a while...haha
Check with TSP just to be certain though...

can I have the idle raised to help eliminate the idle problem?

the cam u are looking at will ned a higher stall converter, by tuning it to idle w/ stock converter you will be leaving hp on the table. infact I think it will not run to your expectations for the size of cam . reading this thread I'm begining to think that you are re-building the motor to quick, considring ur questions u are not sure what u want or can afford. slow down and think this out. you will be very happy at the end.................

If you went with a nice 3200 stall it would help tremedously with that cam and it wouldn't effect your street manners a whole lot.
Simply raising the idle with the stock stall isn't the answer. The car will try to push through the brakes constantly.

I went with Texas Speed's stage 2.5 5.3 liter heads, with their 224R on a 112LSA. I'm aiming for 415-420whp. The whole shebang with the cam, timing chain, gaskets, heads, oil pump, etc. came delivered for right at $2,000. I would think the 224/224 would be a good street cam (that's why I went with it) that will still give you some good overall numbers. The torque curve on that cam seems to be nice and broad, too. I just got mine all back together, and my oil pressure is low, so I don't have numbers yet; I have more demons to deal with before she gets anywhere near a dyno...
Good luck.

I had the TSP 228R on a 114 lsa in my 98 SS and loved it. You will have to have an after market torque converter put in other wise it will run like ***. I went with a 3200 stall, custom shift kit, and full bolt ons put down 390 horse on the dyno with 380 torque. I live in Atlanta so we dont have sniffer test or visual inspection but from what i had been told when i researched this cam a year or more ago the 228 on a 114 lsa will pass emissions with cats and a real good tune.

I also went with TSP's prc double spring valvtrain upgrade kit and the chrome molly pushrods. They have a cam, valvtrain kit and pushrod package for sale rite now for a damn good price. If i where you i would go with TSP's stage 2.5 heads if its within your budget.
