Poll: which cam for power under curve?
1) How did you manage to use the stock retainers with dual springs?
b) What is your lifter preload with the smaller base circle cam and stock pushrods?
III) How did you manage to find the . for your decimal point, but not anywhere else in the whole post?
Performance:lid, air hog, bellows, free ram air, t-body bypass, ported and polished MAF ends, !air, pacesetter LTs, TSP ory, bump stop mod, hooker catback, cutout, dynomax bullet in I-pipe, short stick, TR55's, ported and polished TBody, 160* t-stat, ls6 intake (stock), 3.42s, SFCs, TSP 228R camshaft, TSP hardened rods, PRC springs, titanium retainers, LS2 timing chain, A.R.T. dyno tune
397rwhp/379rwtq (cutout open)
What LSA is your cam ground on, and how much advance is ground in?
If all the information in your signature is correct, I would ask why you would change cams for any of the ones that were listed? The 232/234 cam would stand to make the greatest power increase, but is far from an area under the curve cam. In my honest opinion, you would get everything you want and more out of a good set of heads. I know that wasn't what your post was about, but that would boost your DCR and give you a major enhancement to your area under the curve, and still add power all over the place. Just installing a pair of stock (unmilled) LS6 heads with a .040 thick head gasket will suffice, and shouldn't cost you much more than the cam would. That setup should add at least 20 hp at peak, and possibly even more torque on the low end. If your budget allows more than that (ported 5.3 heads, or stepping up to an aftermarket casting) you stand to gain even more.

and sometime I am even more confused
I think I will just tell the engine builder what I do, and what I want the car to do. Then let him do his work.
Tending to lean with the GMPP Grand AM Cup & Speed World GT cam #88958606
239/251 570/570 106 LSA to a 105 as below.
"For best torque, install the intake centerline 105 for best power install at 107."
and the GMPP LS6 Heads #88958622 also the Grand AM & Speed World GT Heads

I look at many many dyno graphs, engine builds, "Tech rules for racing" and I go
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
that is exactly it. being cut on a 106 ICL made it very hard to tune.. Have some tuning issues! I may put thinner head gaskets on to bump the DCR a bit
At 3000 rpms' its about 365Ft-lbs. Thats really good low end power IMO for a 347

Patrick,
Does the combination of DCR AND SCR affect the amount of overlap you choose in the cams you recommend? Looks like you like to make appx 8.5 DCR?
Or what max DCR are you comfortable with on pump gas? How much overlap goes with that DCR?
