GM Timing Chain Damper
Has anyone here installed one of these dampers?
It looks like a good thing to do.
According to the post at the link below the 97 and 98 corvette blocks had holes tapped for this. I wonder if the 98 Fbody block is tapped.

I'm trying to get some replies on it here too with not too much luck so far. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Guess if your crank pulley and timing cover is off or if you are doing a cam/chain swap, it's a good time to think about it.
Cost is around $85-100 for the damper.

if u do a dual chain is the dampener necessary? I don't plan on spinning my new setup that over 6500.... but if there's data available for double chain vs. single chain life span it'd help <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Just do a dual chain (tight). Much easier. These are used to dampen the slop in the stock chain. FWIW, you can do that with a Cloyes top sprocket.
