Default GM Timing Chain Damper

Has anyone here installed one of these dampers?
It looks like a good thing to do.

According to the post at the link below the 97 and 98 corvette blocks had holes tapped for this. I wonder if the 98 Fbody block is tapped.

I'm trying to get some replies on it here too with not too much luck so far.

Guess if your crank pulley and timing cover is off or if you are doing a cam/chain swap, it's a good time to think about it.

Cost is around $85-100 for the damper.

if u do a dual chain is the dampener necessary? I don't plan on spinning my new setup that over 6500.... but if there's data available for double chain vs. single chain life span it'd help

Just do a dual chain (tight). Much easier. These are used to dampen the slop in the stock chain. FWIW, you can do that with a Cloyes top sprocket.
