Looking for Info on how engines work.
I am looking for a good book that goes into detail on how car engines work, and how their parts work together. Fuel injected and engines with carburetors. If you know of any books or websites with some good info please let me know?
This is mostly pretty basic stuff, but it pretty good when it comes to some of the mechanic operation:

the howstuffworks is pretty good. I have a book called Corvette Fuel Injection tuning or something like that that is pretty good... explains how the computer adds/removes fuel from an EFI car...
I have a book by hotrod magazine about camshafts that's pretty good too, but it deals mostly w/older engines...
I got both of these books at the local barnes and noble...
Also, it's very useful to just go through all the threads and read up on everything... 2 years ago I knew nothing about cars... but having read tons of articles I think I'm ready to rebuild the top end of the car... after reading so many posts you start to understand how pieces fit together and how it all works... plus, unlike many books, these posts are for the most part fact or first hand experience... books are generally theoretical...

Some magazines like Hot Rod have pretty good articles in them from time to time about how they work. I'm not talking about the engine build up ones, I'm talking about the ones that go in depth of things, such as camshafts and the components that go along with it.
I've learned a lot about engines by just working on them. Hands on experience.
A third option would go get a degree in mechanical engineering

One that I found to be very informitive is 'How to rebuild SBC Engines". Another good one is John Lingenfelter's. I do not remember the name of it, but it is his only one
I think the latest Hot Rod or Car Craft was entitled "How engines work". Maybe you could check it out at the local magazine rack!
