In simple terms our intake manifolds suck compared to what our heads are capable of flowing so by running a reverse split cam with more dur. on the intake side you are allowing more time to fill the combustion chamber then closing it up quickly. Our exhaust sides flow very well so they don't need and extra dur (within reason).

I'm sure someone can give much more detail and I may be wrong on a point of 2 but this is what I have gathered. Man I hope I'm right and don't look like an ***.

you are right Justin, duration = equals time and "cylinder fill" which allows the motor to breath. with a better intake a reverse split cam may not be neccessary anymore. also reverse split is typically for a NA car and maybe a little nitrous

Just because your cylinder heads flow well doesn't mean you have a free flowing exhaust. Try that 230/224 on a stock exhaust car and you wont see the same gains you would see with LT's no cats and a cutout. I dont think that is a cam that will work wonders with restrictive exhausts reguardless of how the heads are ported. Just my .02

Thx Nick.

I agree Phil, I mean the exhaust ports of our heads. I figure it is universaly agreed that a proper exhaust system is needed to get full benifit of a good cam.
