Default Hitting Rev Limiter Bad?

Is it hard on the motor to hit the rev limiter? Many people on here say that it is, but I don't see how. I am not talking about mechanical overrev. Lets just say that I put my 6-speed in first gear and put it on the floor and don't shift and I am bouncing off of the rev limiter. Is it worse for a car that has an aftermarket cam (assuming that it has the valvetrain to support this cam) than a stock cam? Is it not bad to barley nick the limiter, but it is bad to just sit there and bounce off of it.

I just really don't see how hitting the rev limiter hurts anything because you are not over-revving right? Can someone shine some light on this?

No it's not bad..... the rev limiter is there to protect your motor from damage due to over reving.

Bouniceg off the rev limiter is not bad.

The mechanical overrev is what kills parts, the famed 3-2 shift.
